Our Exhibits

Almost 10,000 square feet of exhibit space offer a vast interactive environment where families can discover hands on learning together. The building that houses the museum was built in 1892 and is land marked. The building was People’s Clothing Store for many years with offices on the second floor and apartments on the 3rd floor.

Dr. DoLittle's Animal Clinic
Let your child use their imagination and become a veterinarian! Children are able to play "hands on" as a vet surrounded by animals with all of the elements of a real animal clinic. This includes attire, bandages, cages, x-rays, a real skeletal structure of a dog, a stream near by, and much more! This exhibit is thanks to local veterinarian offices and Noah's Ark.

Giant Pin Screen
This is an Above & Beyond favorite. This 6-foot tall screen made of safe, plastic pins enables visitors to leave an impression of their entire body! It came as a kit and took over 200 volunteers and Board Members to assemble!

.
Under Construction
This exhibit is here thanks to hundreds of volunteer hours of the Early Bird Rotary Club! Children can engage in "hands on" learning through the use of real tools and the process of building real forts, furniture, and other "kid-sized" structures. Through this exhibit activity, visitors will learn construction skills and practice safe workshop behavior. This exhibit is sponsored by the Richardson Family Foundation, Mike Koenig Construction, Trilling True Value, Sheboygan Paint, and Wisconsin Public Service Foundation.

Tree House Adventures
The Tree House Adventures is a great way of bringing the outdoors...inside! Visitors are able to crawl through the inside of a realistic looking tree trunk, slide down a tree slide, crawl through various colored tubes to look out windows, and connect with the Sky Crawl! The tree slide is set off by an artist's depiction of a walk in the park in Wisconsin and a realistic looking stream flows behind it. NOW OPEN is our Reading Loft where children will be encouraged to relax and rest while surrounded by an assortment of books!

Cyber Space
Cyber Space is located at the top of the stairs to the second floor and offers museum visitors the opportunity to explore the cyber space computer laboratory. It contains simple games for the youngest family members, as well as the games for the expert family player!

Siegl Circus
This massive exhibit resides on the second floor. Artist, Jim Siegl, spent 30 years carving each piece by hand. Visitors can place their FUN CARDS around the circus wagon in the open windows to activate different parts of the circus. About 100 circus shows either started here or where stored here for the winter. The first Wisconsin circus was founded in 1947, one year before Wisconsin became a state. In 1920, the first motorized circus in Wisconsin was established in Sheboygan.

Tight Rope Walk
This exhibit goes hand in hand with the circus theme. The wife of one of our board members painted the floor for the Tight Rope Walk exhibit. Their family is in the painting in the front row, center, opposite the circus mirror. See if you have the skills to walk the tight rope!
Floor: 2
.
Aurora Kids Klinic
This exhibit is a great way to help children become comfortable in a doctor's office...here they get to be the doctor! The exhibit features all the paraphernalia of a doctor's office including ax-ray light tables, ax-rays, a microscope computer software program, dolls, felt boards with the body and all it's parts and organs. The exhibit is all child-sized and child safe!

Lions Toddler Safari has recently opened with all new toys
Toddler Safari underwritten by the Evenings Lions Club invites children four and under to explore the soft padded jungle-themed room and play with age-appropriate toys. Large aquariums, maintained by Noah's Ark, welcome them as they enter their unique play area.

Market Place (NOW OPEN) & Kid's Cafe (COMING SOON!)
The Piggly Wiggly Kids' Market, a child-sized grogery store to shop and play pretend, as well as the Kids' Cafe, a child-sized cafe where kids can (pretend to) cook up something good to eat. Culvers Kids' Cafe is in the process of being finished, so if you notice some open space on the second floor, that's the reason! We would also like to say a special thanks to Piggly Wiggly and Culvers for making these new exhibits possible.

Interactive Model Railroad
Right next door to the Siegl Circus is home of the newly arrived Model Railroad! Young engineers can control the sounds and speed of the train AND activate the gas station, fire house and more! Check out the 1940's and 50's model cars and trucks! This work was done by volunteer Michael Matysik.

Kaleidoscope
The Kaleidoscope is on display on the third floor. It gives visitors an opportunity to see their own reflection in a kaleidscope and is one of the largest in the nation!

AB School House
The new AB School House on the third floor will be a favorite for those with a natural desire to learn. A selection of activites gives the children an opportunity to practice their shapes, colors, etc. in a real school house setting. Featuring student desks from Heritage School of Sheboygan, children are able to play teacher to their friends and family. Research shows that make-believe, roll playing and hands-on activities such as those at Above & Beyond are extremely beneficial in early childhood development.
