Our field trips give students & teachers opportunities beyond the typical school experience by providing a “hands-on” experience and involving our visitors in creative exhibits and activities! Field Trip Offerings

Self-Guided Field Trips

During this 90-minute experience, children are encouraged to explore all of our exhibits at their own pace. The exhibits have been designed to meet the developmental needs of children from birth to age 8 and are aligned to Wisconsin Academic Standards, as well as the Wisconsin Early Model Learning Standards.

  • $5 per student
  • Teachers and chaperones are free

Focused Field Trip: Sensory Science

During this 90-minute experience, children will spend 30 minutes in a hands-on workshop led by a museum educator, followed by 45 minutes of free exploration of our interactive exhibits. 

Young scientists will use their five senses to conduct simple experiments and make observations throughout 3 learning stations. Students will finish the workshop with a fun take-home experiment. 

  • $7 per student
  • Teachers and chaperones are free
  • Grades: Preschool-2nd
  • WMELS: Domain I: B.EL.2 & C.EL.2
  • Wisconsin Academic Science Standards: SCI.SEP1.A.K.-2

Focused Field Trip: What's with the Weather?

During this 90-minute experience, children will spend 30 minutes in a hands-on workshop led by a museum educator, followed by 45 minutes of free exploration of our interactive exhibits. 

Where does water come from? How do clouds form, and why does water evaporate? Students will discuss answers to these questions and create their own "Rainstorm in a Jar".

  • $7 per student
  • Teachers and chaperones are free
  • Grades: Kindergarten-3
  • WMELS: Domain III: A.EL.3 Domain IV: A.EL.1
  • Wisconsin Academic Science Standards: SCI.ESS2.D.K. & SCI.ESS2.D.3
